Tamar is a dancer, teacher, and movement lover originally from Lynchburg, Virginia. She was introduced to the Gyrotonic Method while pursuing her BFA in Dance at the University of the Arts, under the mentorship of Jennifer Binford Johnson. She was inspired to become certified in the technique after experiencing the ways it helped her bounce back from an injury and —on the way—develop a healthier relationship with her body. She has performed internationally with Kolben Dance Company and with various independent choreographers such as Ella Ben-Aharon, Shlomi Bitton, Shlomit Fundaminsky, Herve Koubi, and Mami Shimazaki. She currently collaborates with Cardell Dance Theatre and with other dance-theatre artists in Philadelphia. Her approach to movement is influenced by an array of somatic modalities, and she is also a certified PSC Mat Pilates Instructor.  She has been practicing and teaching the Gyrotonic Method for the past 10 years.
